Running an article analysis in Gobu

This guide explains how to upload files, interpret AI-generated results, and access deeper insights.

Watch the learning center video about the Article Analysis.

Uploading and Analyzing Articles

  1. Choose "Article Analysis" when creating a new project.

  2. Upload a file:

    • From your device.

    • From your Gobu library (previous uploads).

    • Or try a sample file to preview how analysis works.

Once selected, Gobu runs the analysis and opens the notebook view.

If you are on Researcher plan we recommend you to enter your Research Focus by clicking the "👤 Personalize AI for your project" (if you are on Project view "Set Research Focus") before running any analysis.

Working with the Notebook View

  • A notification confirms when the analysis is complete.

  • The AI-generated insights appear in the text editor.

  • You can edit the content to personalize and internalize the material.

Each AI-generated statement is backed by source excerpts.

Click on an excerpt to read it, and use Locate on Source to jump directly to its spot in the PDF.

The left sidebar includes:

  • Summary: Core insights from the article, including further readings:

    • Top-Cited References: Most cited sources by the article.

    • Suggested Readings: Recommended next reads.

  • Concepts: Both basic and key terms. How these concepts connect.

  • Key Results & Implications: Why findings matter and how they apply.

  • Methodology and Contributions

  • All Excerpts:

    • A curated list of key quotes pulled directly from the article.

    • These are not AI-generated, but extracted by the AI from the text.

  • If you set the Research focus for your project, you will see the Your Research section, which includes (in Researcher Plan):

    • Relevance: How related is this source to your research focus

    • Insights: Difficult parts to understand and alignment with your Hypothesis.

If you're deeply engaged in research, the Researcher Plan gives you access to detailed methodology, limitations, and contribution sections and allows you to set your Research Focus in every project.
